My name is Kylie Honniball and I am a student-artist at SFSU. I am a resident of San Francisco where I have spent my life being inspired and creating art which I want to inspire others.
pots still life
pots still life – medium: crayon
I did this piece initially to help my brain with figuring out how I would place the colors in my painted version. After working on the painting though I actually like this rendition better.
pots still life – medium: acrylic paint
This piece I left intentionally unfinished because I like how it directly displays my (and really any painter’s) process. It is clear to the viewer that parts of it are much more realistic and defined yet other parts are undone. I always felt it was upsetting when someone views an artwork and judges its quality for how accurately it depicts reality. In my opinion, we should let paint stand alone. If I wanted to capture reality hyper-realistically, I would use a camera. Viewing this painting, I am letting people see that paint is a valuable medium for its ability to build up and create an image while simultaneously being able to remain abstract and monotonous.
